Assistant Manager – Cozy Village Play Cafe

Cozy Village Play Cafe is looking for a reliable, organized, and friendly Assistant Manager to join our team! We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, family-focused environment and can help lead daily operations while ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience.

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager will support the overall success of Cozy Village Play Cafe by helping manage day-to-day operations, overseeing birthday party bookings, supporting staff, and maintaining excellent customer service standards. This role requires strong communication, multitasking, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with daily operations of the cafe and play space

• Overseeing birthday party reservations from booking through event completion

• Following up with party families regarding details, add-ons, and final confirmations

• Managing purchases and inventory for upcoming birthdays and events, as well as overall cafe and play space needs

• Ensuring all party details are organized and communicated clearly to staff

• Supervising, supporting, and managing staff during shifts

• Assisting with scheduling and maintaining team accountability

• Responding promptly to customer emails, inquiries, and phone calls

• Handling guest concerns professionally and efficiently

• Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the facility

• Supporting marketing promotions and special events as needed

• Proactively identifying and resolving issues as they arise within the space to ensure smooth daily operations

Qualifications

• Previous management, hospitality, childcare, or customer service experience preferred

• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly and confidently address issues as they arise

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities

• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure

• Friendly, professional, and dependable personality

• Availability to work one to two weekends per month required

Key Responsibilities

Barista & Café Duties

• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages

• Heat and serve food items at our café counter

• Operate our Point of Sale (POS) system to complete purchases accurately and efficiently

• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked café area

• Follow food safety and sanitation standards

Customer Service & Guest Experience

• Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming, friendly environment

• Check in families and provide information about our play café offerings

• Educate guests on admission options, memberships, birthday parties, specialty classes, and food and beverage menu

• Ensure all guests — adults and children — have a comfortable and enjoyable visit

Support Facility Upkeep

• Assist with general cleanliness across all areas, including the café, play areas, cafe seating area, and restrooms

• Occasionally support the Play Guide team in light play area supervision and cleaning

• Participate in special events and help create a fun, safe atmosphere for all guests

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in food service, retail, or customer service preferred.

• Barista experience is a plus, but not required—training provided!

• Friendly, approachable, and confident in guest-facing roles.

• Able to multitask, stay organized, and adapt to a dynamic environment.

• Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
